Macro- und microphotography of museum specimens of Hymenoptera and other insects
For high-resolution photography of Hymenoptera and other insects, various photo systems with resolutions of 20-150 megapixels are used. In contrast to high-throughput photography, the focus here is on resolution, with the aim of achieving the best possible recognition of morphological features, in particular of very small parasitoid wasps of one to a few millimetres in size. In the case of larger objects, features can be documented photographically that are only recognisable at higher magnifications with the stereomicroscope, e.g. scale structures on Lepidoptera wings.
