Section Mammalogy
The collection of mammals consists of about 40.000 specimens (estimated). Following groups with all available locality and collector’s data are recorded digitally: Afrosoricida, Erinaceomorpha, Soricomorpha, Carnivora, Chiroptera (excluding Pteropodidae), Rodentia (excluding Hystricognathi), Proboscidea, Perrisodactyla. A total of 24,000 specimens are recorded in the database.
The following orders are represented especially numerous:
- Primates (list of types)
- Carnivora,
- Perissodactyla,
- Artiodactyla
- und Rodentia
Geographical main emphasis is on: Bavaria, Caucasus, Thailand, Borneo, Sumatra, Nepal, Tien Shan, Tanzania, Namibia und Argentina (Gran Chaco region).

The type collection include – among others- numerous specimens cited in the publications of Johann Andreas WAGNER, but also specimens with undeclared type status.
