Collections
Section Hymenoptera
The Hymenoptera collection of the ZSM consists of about 12,500 drawes, mostly standard-sized insect drawers (51 x 42 cm). Accessions with unidentified material comprise about 1,500 drawers.
Macro and micro photography
High-resolution photography of DNA barcoding specimens is carried out with a photo system specially optimised for this purpose. For high-resolution photos of individual specimens, several different photo systems are used, depending on the required resolution and size of the insect.
Drawer digitisation
DScan 2.0, an integrated system for drawer digitisation, is used to take high-resolution photographs of entire insect drawers and to record the collection data.
